Difference between Petrol Engine VS Diesel Engine

Petrol Engine

            1.      Petrol engine takes a suitable mixture of Petrol and Air during suction stroke.
            2.      The compression ratio is approximately 6 to 10.
            3.      It is easy to start a petrol engine, since it has low compression ratio.
            4.      Petrol engine have more over heating problem due to low thermal efficiency.
            5.      Maintenance cost of petrol engine is less.
            6.      Running cost of petrol engine is high because of high fuel cost.
            7.      Petrol engine requires spark plug to ignite the mixture of fuel.
            8.      Such engines are usually light duty vehicles.
            9.      Generally, Petrol engines are high speed engines.
          10.    It’s based on Otto cycle.


Diesel Engine

1.      A diesel engine takes only air during the suction stroke.
2.      The compression ratio of diesel engine is approximately 14 to 25.
3.      Starting of diesel engine is difficult due to high compression ratio.
4.      These engines have less over heating problem as compared to Petrol engine.
5.      Maintenance cost is high, compared to petrol engine.
6.      Running cost of diesel engines is less due to cheaper fuel.
7.      A fuel injector injects fuel in spray or fine atomise form, at temperature about 600 *C.
8.      These engines are generally employed with heavy duty engines.
9.      These engines are low speed engines as compared to petrol engines.
10. Diesel engine is based on Diesel cycle.

Sonbhadra district was come to its own existence after separation from Mirzapur district at 4th march 1989. Its headquarter is situated in Robartganj, which was named on basis of English Man “Fedrick Robart”.

Sonbhadra is an only its own kind of district in India which shares it border with four states. It is the second largest district of Utter Pradesh State.


It is said that, the name of Sonbhadra was adopted from “Son” river, which passes through this district.  Lord Gautam Buddha was also passed through sonbhdra and he predicted bright future of this district.

Rihand Dam: Key Facts

Rihand Dam is one of the major dam in India. Rihand Dam is also known as "Govind Ballabh Pant sagar". It is built on Son River and the Dam is located near Pipari, Sonbhadra U.P.
The construction of this dam was started in 1954 and the construction was completed in 1962.

The water reservoir capacity of this dam is around 10.6 billion cubic metric but active capacity of this dam is 8.9 billion cubic metres.
The construction of this dam is based on concrete gravity with total length of 935 meter (approx) with total Height of 92 meter (approx).
